Academic Advisory Board

The IRF has established an Academic Advisory Board (AAB). The AAB provides important assistance and guidance to the IRF program, including in the selection of Fellows, recommending and assisting in placements and selection of mentors, meeting with the Fellows and conducting discussions, and providing suggestions in order to improve the program. Board members are also asked to lead some of the monthly seminar sessions.

The current members of the Academic Advisory Board are:
  • Prof. Gerald Steinberg, Chair
    President of NGO Monitor and professor of Political Studies at Bar-Ilan University, Ramat Gan, Israel

  • Col. (res.) Miri Eisen
    Israeli government spokesperson during the Second Lebanon War; former Israeli Prime Minister international media advisor

  • Dr. Boaz Ganor
    Deputy Dean of the Lauder School of Government and Diplomacy at the Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya, Israel; Executive Director of the International Policy Institute for Counter-Terrorism

  • Dr. Daniel Gordis
    Senior Vice President of the Shalem Center; Senior Fellow at the Shalem Center; award-winning author

  • Brig. Gen. (Res.) Michael Herzog
    Senior Fellow at the Jewish People Policy Institute: Former head of the IDF's Strategic Planning Division; former Chief of Staff to the Israeli Minister of Defense; served as special emissary of Israel's Prime Minister and Minister of Defense

  • Dr. Amichai Magen
    Senior Researcher and Head of Political Development International Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) Lecturer, Lauder School of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy The Interdisciplinary Center, Herzliya Visiting Fellow, Hoover Institution, Stanford University

  • Dr. Jonathan Rynhold
    Lecturer in political science at the University of Bar-Ilan

  • DJ Schneeweiss
    Diplomat, Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs; has served as Policy Assistant and Policy Advisor to the Israeli Foreign Minister; former Press Secretary at Israel's London Embassy; former Israeli Deputy Ambassador to China

  • Prof. Chaim I. Waxman
    Professor Emeritus of Sociology and Jewish Studies at Rutgers University; served as President of the Association for the Sociological Study of Jewry; Senior Fellow at the Van Leer Jerusalem Institute

Team

  • Chair of the Academic Advisory Board

    In his capacity as Chair of the Academic Advisory Board (AAB), Prof. Gerald Steinberg serves as the permanent academic consultant overseeing the project. He is also responsible for seminars and training sessions, as well other aspects of the Fellows’ professional development.

  • Administrator

    Dov Yarden serves as the Administrator of the project. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program and all legal and financial dealings of the program, including maintaining the legal infrastructure in the United States.
